My Approach to Counselling

At Compassionate Counselling my approach is integrative. This means that I am trained and experienced in using a range of psychotherapy theories and methods from psychodynamic and humanistic traditions. I also use mindfulness techniques, C'B.T. (cognitive behavioural therapy), N.L.P. (neuro linguistic programming) and E.F.T. (emotional freedom technique) where I consider these would be helpful. What this means for you is that just as you are unique, my approach will be uniquely tailored to suit your particular needs .

Qualifications

I have a BA (Hons) in Psychology and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy (Birmingham University), and I am a qualified AAMET level 2 EFT practitioner. I hold a diploma in NLP, clinical hypnotherapy and life coaching (The Optimum Health Clinic, London). I have attended numerous mindfulness trainings and retreats and am committed to my own daily mindfulness practice. I have also completed couples counselling training (Praxis, Nottingham).
I have also recently attended a 2day training workshop on ACT - acceptance and commitment therapy.
I am committed to continuing professional development and regularly attend further training events and courses.

Experience

As well as almost a decade in private practice, my experience also includes several years short term NHS counselling and many years working in education. I also run courses and workshops for small groups and companies on stress management.
